Franklin MacKenzie was raised on a generational farm in New Haven Michigan. He came to Mount Pleasant in 2023 to start a family with his loving wife, and the pair welcomed their first child in 2025. Franklin received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University, focusing primarily on electro-optics and semi-conductor technology. His undergraduate summers would often find him bailing hay on the family farm while he wasn't clerking for local patent law firms. After graduating, Franklin returned to Michigan State University to study law. While there he continued interning in the field of patent law, passed the United States Patent Bar Exam, and reconstituted the MSU chapter of the Thomas More Society.
After graduating and passing the Michigan Bar Exam, Franklin worked as a patent attorney drafting and prosecuting patent applications for multiple fortune 500 companies. The approaching birth of his daughter changed the trajectory of life, and brought Franklin's focus closer to home in Mount Pleasant where he joined Barberi Law. During his free time, Franklin enjoys spending time with family, hiking, and participating in Scottish highland games
